Baby toys

I wanted to do a slightly off topic post showing my appreciation for some of the baby toys I have got recently now that Isaac has started to be able to reach and grab for things. As baby shower and new baby gifts we got lots of lovely soft toys given but when Isaac was about a month old I started looking at different toys because I just wanted to buy him things O.o and he had so many clothes! #selfconfesssedshopaholic

The first toy we got that Isaac properly appreciated was the Vtech Giggle and Go Baby Snail (amazon link; not affiliated). It has a ring to clip to the car seat which is great because we did do quite a few car journeys when he was very little, and then it has lights and sounds in the shell which Isaac loved to look at from a young age. As he has grown up a bit he's now able to pull the hanging ring himself and self-soothe while he's in the car seat. I'd recommend this toy to everyone from about 2 or 3 months (oh and the songs aren't terrible to have stuck in your head all day! They're not that annoying and there are a few different ones so you don't get too sick of them).

He's got a few other Vtech toys since then (a singing cow, phone, bear etc) and he loves the music and lights on those too but the snail is a winner for me because he can use it in the car seat when I'm not there to play with him.

I also wanted to mention the O ball toys which are made to be easy to grab and come in lots of different designs. We got one of these around 3 or 4 months when Isaac was just starting to open and close his hands and reach for things. I feel like this toy helped Isaac to learn he could pick up and play with things and start to interact with his world a bit more. He was slightly gutted that he couldn't fit the top of it in his mouth.

The last type of toy that is always a winner is a teething toy. When baby is teething you will do and buy anything that you think could help them because it's awful hearing them crying and not being able to do anything about it. We have the teething toys you put in the fridge to be nice and cold and soothing on his gums but he gets frustrated with those pretty easily. We also have the soft toys with teether feet which he's able to chew on and hold himself :) Saying that, Isaac always appreicates a good chew on the corner of a book, so you really don't need to spend the money on special teether toys because they will still prefer to chew on a chair or something else they shouldn't!
